why: In order to be the change we wish to see in the world, we are promoting justice by partnering with Daniel Homrich from Innocence Atlanta to tackle the dirty, overlooked problem of Sex-Trafficking.

what: At Oktoberfest in downtown Hickory (Oct. 12-13) our group will be see-sawing for thirty hours to raise money and awareness to combat sex trafficking, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. Before the event, we will be asking friends, neighbors, co-workers, families, and businesses to be sponsors and donate pledges to this worthwhile cause, as well as help us in getting the word out.

get involved: During Oktoberfest we will have a booth set up with a see-saw as well as an informational table near the railroad tracks. We will take donations during the 30 hour event at our booth. Also, Daniel Homrich, a 26 year old from Atlanta, with great passion to end this enormous problem will be on hand at Oktoberfest to discuss the issue with those who would like to know more. Please stop by to see what this event is all about.

get informed: Martin Luther King’s voice still echoes today when he exclaimed that, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Our group will seek to be a voice to those without one, with the hopes of helping some out of the slavery they are forced into daily.

100% of the proceeds from this event will go to Daniel Homrich’s organization in Atlanta, GA called The Passport. Monies collected will fund the prevention, intervention, and suppression efforts against sex-trafficking in Atlanta, GA.

  • In all, an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 underage girls are prostituted in the United States, according to a University of Pennsylvania study
  • Child Sexual Exploitation is believed to be the world’s third-biggest money maker for organized crime, said Stephanie Davis, policy adviser to Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin
